Iron should be consumed at least half an hour before a meal so that it can be optimally absorbed by the body. Various substances that are naturally contained in food can inhibit absorption. Care should also be taken to ensure that it is not consumed together with foods containing minerals (e.g. milk and dairy products, fortified plant drinks and our Sango sea coral > calcium & magnesium) and/or drinks containing tannins (e.g. coffee, black, green or white tea and red wine). In addition, the simultaneous consumption of zinc (dietary supplement) can lead to a mutual inhibition of absorption.
