No, our omega 3 algae oil does not contain any significant amount of iodine. The microalgae Schizochytrium sp. is cultivated under controlled conditions in special facilities. This guarantees that it does not contain unexpectedly high amounts of iodine or other completely undesirable substances such as heavy metals.
It is true that brown algae in particular contain a lot of iodine because they absorb and accumulate it from their environment (the sea), which is why many people consume them in their dried state. In our case, vegetable oil rich in DHA and EPA is obtained from special microalgae, Schizochytrium sp. As already mentioned, these are cultivated under controlled conditions in special facilities, so they cannot accumulate iodine. If small, negligible amounts of iodine were nevertheless present, this would be further reduced in the further processing of the microalgae. Omega 3 products from microalgae therefore have no significant influence on the daily iodine intake.
